Spanish investment in renewable energy could serve as a model for countries eager to reach EU 2020 energy targets, according to one of Spain’s leading energy academics.

Spain is expected to meet its EU-imposed targets thanks to massive investment in solar and wind-powered energy generation despite the country’s recession, economics professor and energy guru Gonzalo Escribano said.

Prof. Escribano was giving the keynote speech at an alternative energy seminar held last week.
