The Leone Band is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a new collection of funeral marches to be played during the Good Friday procession held by the Cathedral in Victoria.
The collection, entitled Redemptor Hominis after the first encyclical letter by Blessed John Paul II, with whom the Leone Band had a special bond, comes with an information booklet containing biographical and historical notes.
It can be purchased from the Leone Band Club or from the band’s official website www.leone.org.mt.
Meanwhile, the Leone Band will take part in an evening of music and reflection at the Cathedral tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Entrance is free and the public is to be seated 10 minutes prior to the performance.
The band will also accompany the Good Friday procession from the Cathedral at 6pm, and on Easter Sunday, it will accompany the statue of the Risen Christ at 10.30am.
