MSAR Ltd presented its new offshore patrol vessel concept at Navdex, the leading military trade show in Abu Dhabi last month.

The Paola-based company is specialised in the lease of search and rescue, patrol and offshore support vessels. It designs, develops, builds and leases multi-purpose vessels complete with a life cycle maintenance support including an end-of-life cycle recycling solution.

At Navdex, MSAR showcased three vessels: the Interceptor, with waterjet propulsion intended for patrol purposes, the Protector, with pod drives for search and rescue applications, and the new offshore patrol vessel 42M concept, with standard propeller drives and an additional marine turbine for fast operations.

The OPV 42M was designed following requests from the Middle East and some African regions for anti-piracy and oil platform protection.

All three models available are being offered with similar leasing solutions which cover acquisition, support for 12 years, customised design to any specification, round-the-clock remote monitoring and technical assistance, annual maintenance and refitting of vessel and equipment after six years.

Managing director Jack Wijnants said the MSAR stand at the event was very well attended and numerous enquiries were made.

MSAR is a privately-owned subsidiary of the Oxbridge Group which operates in Belgium, the UK and Malta. It builds a series of vessels between 15 to 42 metres long with custom outfitting of hardware and equipment, meeting the needs of a wide array of rescue and patrol requirements.

MSAR offers a range of options, including medical, scientific and military equipment, bullet-proof protection, secure communications, cameras and customisation for extreme climates.
