So, as some wit once put it succinctly, the more things change the more they remain the same. No, it isn’t just my writing or my wit that is the same old stuff—it’s that exciting subject politics I’m referring to.

Will this be a rant against Super Joseph and his great team? Have they promised change and then kept the same course?  Yes. And am I grumbling that they are all smiles and saying yes and thank you all the time and making sure they are business-friendly? Am I grumbling that they are making it a point to keep emphasising to the four windy corners of this rock that hey, they are EU supporters with all their might and all vestiges of bashing the EU are out?

All this is great.

I don’t mind Super One, or whatever the name of the TV/Radio station is. I promise I don’t mind it, just as I never mind a pit-bull, a Rottweiler or a deranged cheetah. Yes, I really don’t mind them at all. But do please keep them on your ground, nicely tied and in cages. As long as they are in cages I have no problem whatsoever. I could also come and visit, with the knowledge that it’s part of the fun to see the beasts in their element. If the Nats did it maybe the reason the electorate spoke out so loudly is for it not to happen again.

The top positions which are not being filled by people from Super One are being handed over to the party faithful. No call for applications, no choice in national or rational interests. Just pure Partit Laburista. Is the mask fading so fast? Please prove me wrong. And if possible not just by mentioning the appointment of Dolores Cristina as acting President. Wow and double wow.

Nothing changes—nothing’s new. And to prove this calamitously the PN has just decided that councillors are competent enough to choose the new Party leader. They have obviously really learnt their lesson and are listening to what the people are saying. So much so that instead of giving voice to their remaining supporters they decide they can do it themselves and perpetuate their own past.

Nothing changes on this rock. We just all get more fossilised in our outdated, discarded ways.
