McDonald’s to expand, create 200 jobs

McDonald's Malta will be holding a recruitment drive this Saturday as part of its plans to employ 200 recruits - a mix of full-timers and part-timers. The event will be held at the Baystreet Conference Room between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. 

The company said the recruitment drive aims to cater for the heightened manpower demands it faces during the busy summer months as well as its upcoming expansion, which is now imminent.

The company is planning to open a new restaurant in the heart of Sliema in May,  followed by the opening of a new McDrive restaurant later in the year  in the Naxxar area.

All recruits will be trained to operate within the McDonald’s system and their training will help strengthen a broad range of their skills.

No it wasn't. Malta has never had the 'Mediterranean diet' Pastizzi are far more unhealthy than any burger. What about pies, soft drinks, pasta, lasagne, timpana etc? All very unhealthy and always been a main part of Maltese diet.

maybe they are crap jobs for you .. but surely not for us students who would like to work a part time job while studying, which in this case mcdonald's is the PERFECT choice.

About low earnings, I'm curious to know what's the range for low earning for you..

It has been proved that the burger itself is quite healthy.

Remove the chips and the mayo and you have a healthy cheap meal.

we don't need Mc Donalds thank you Karl!! I'd rather buy a qassata than a burger!!! And what burger - have you noticed how in the adverts their burgers look so big, juicy and appetizing - what a far cry when compared to reality!

I used to work at McDonald's two Summers ago. The toilets are not always very clean and managers expected me to check them every 10 minutes. The way things are at McDonald's do not depend on the crew working there but also on the people who go eat there. And I can tell you that most of the customers I met had no respect for the crew.

Excellent comment Charles. The power of the irrelevant things in life (marketed by the Americans) have grasped our society as well. Globalization is a fraud!!
What about Obesity in our country? Moreover what about the actual ingredients in these type of foods?

I don't think that they pay minimum wage there. I used to work there and the only thing I complain about are the shifts since I always ended my shifts late at night.

Are you possibly so naive or blinkered not to realise that this expansion is the fruit of MacDonalds success in Malta over the past decade and that it must have been months and years in the planning...

For sure I won't go there to eat, but it is not complaining if someone tells you that it is a fact that some things are bad for you.
You have two choices either ignore the advice or take the advice and go buy yourself some decent food (or just cook something).

I have nothing to complain about! I like Macdonalds, you have choices - you can have a burger or a healthy salad, I don't see what's wrong with it.

@N. Buttigieg... these are not complaints, just facts... then on the other hand, who pays for all the medical treatment that arise from obesity. You and me Tax payers.

Do you believe that now your employer should also provide you with free transport? Even doctors go to work with their own car.

For young people this would be useful experience in life.

I am proud this was my first job. I took it seriously, managed to improve my position and till today I think it was a positive experience in my life.

Whatever your job in life learn from it and try to move on

The rates you quoted are in US D, which do not translate to every McDonald's in the world. In Malta, employees get paid a wage similar to those offered by 5 Star Hotels (Corinthia, HIlton) and it may have gone up recently....and they get an increased pay on Sundays and PHs. Quite good for a part time job

If you really care what their paying rates are just go ask yourself.. just be glad that 200 new jobs are going to be created for students and other people!
