Bonus Kall and Timolin won the major races for Premier trotters and flat horses respectively, yes-terday. These two races formed part of the ninth meeting of the season which included eight races.

The Premier race was contested by 16 trotters.

Bonus Kall (Julian Farrugia) was the fastest in the early stages. This Swedish nine-year-old opened a half-length’s lead from Magic de Assigny (Charles Camilleri) and Noble d’Ete (Raymond Clifton).

Bonus Kall was unchallenged for most of the distance and never relinquished first position, going on to record its first win in Malta more than four lengths ahead of Magic de Assigny. Oncle Sam (Clive Gerada) and Noble d’Ete followed in that order.

Bonus Kall clocked an average time of 1.15.3” per kilometre.

In the Flat race, Henderlik (Demis Zammit) was the fastest horse out of the gates with Diamante Grande (Sarah Borg) and Privileged Boy (Michael Sultana) in hot pursuit.

But with 300m to go, the early leader started to slow down and was overtaken by Timolin (Ramon Grima) which secured its first win of the year. Privileged Boy also qualified for the Chukkas Cup final after finishing in third place.

Another programme of racing at Marsa will be held on Sunday.

The card will consist of eight trotting races, two of which semi-finals from the Tazza l-Kbira cham-pionship for Premier and Gold class trotters.

The meeting starts at 1.30pm.
