Pavi Depiro pulled off a remarkable turnaround in yesterday’s second leg from the women’s Louis Borg Cup final after they cancelled a first-leg deficit of 16 points to see off Luxol 66-45 and lift the trophy 123-118 on aggregate. Luxol, already winners of the Super Cup, the BOV KO and the MBA Shield this season, looked on course to continue their clean sweep of honours after going into the interval 27-26 ahead. However, complacency seemed to creep into their game and Depiro produced a strong third-quarter showing to pull the tie level on aggregate after starting the final session 46-30 ahead. Luxol tried to hit back but Depiro kept potting points consistently to wrap up a fine triumph. Depiro’s Leticha Belche (picture, no. 12) was the game’s top scorer with 21 points.
