A new monument has just been set up on the road leading to Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary.

The Pilgrim’s Monument symbolises the way of the pilgrim. The figure of Our Lady is indicating the way to the sanctuary with her left hand, while giving her maternal blessing with her right.

Traditionally, the spot where the monument was erected is the point where the faithful start their pilgrimage to the sanctuary. The monument is made up of Gozitan hard stone by Raymond Bonello, while the mosaic work is by the Italian firm Favret Artistic Mosaics of Pietrasanta. The mosaics that adorn Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary and the marble satutes of the Way of the Cross at Għammar Hill are also by Pietrasanta.

The concept and design of the monument are by Fr Roberto Gauci.
