The fifth in the series of cultural tours organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts will be held next Sunday, Palm Sunday.

The tour will include a penitential procession in Qala which hosts the largest and only statue depicting Christ taken down from the Cross, brought over from Spain.

In Nadur, participants will visit a Last Supper display at the MUSEUM boys’ branch and the parish church where, apart from the processional Passion statues, Ġorġ Cassar will also speak about the cult of Holy Week in Gozo.

The tour will also include a visit to an exhibition of sacred art, entitled Rebbiegħa, by Gozitan artist Paul Camilleri Cauchi, who will also be present at the Banca Giuratale in Victoria to speak about his work. Other places of interest will include the recently opened Il-Ħaġar museum in Victoria (pictured) and St George’s Basilica, where Passion statues will be on show.

Departure will be from near the Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana at 11.30am. Tickets cost €22 for adults and €20 for the elderly and children. Refreshments will also be served during the tour.

Booking closes on Wednesday at noon or earlier if the tour is fully booked. Tickets can be obtained from the MCCA office at 230, Republic Street, Valletta (further down from St George’s Square) from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.30pm.
