Fourteen sports students at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology recently visited Austria and Slovakia to experience various winter sport activities.

The students, who are on the Mcast-Btec Extended Diploma in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) course, tried out snowshoeing, ice-skating, snowboarding, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and trekking. Before doing so, they received training from college lecturers and specialised instructors.

The students also took part in an avalanche course, where they learnt how to help people trapped under snow and other safety training.

The trip was organised by Mcast sports coordinator Adele Muscat and the Institute of Community Services’ sports courses coordinator Dorianne Bonnici.
