The Cathedral of Saint Louis des Invalids, one of the most beautiful landmarks in Paris, will welcome international Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja on April 23 to an exclusive concert being organised by the Embassy of Malta in Paris.

This ambitious event will be a historical feat in many ways. The concert, entitled Joseph Calleja: La Grande Voix de Malte, will be accompanied by the historical and beautiful orchestra of the Garde Républicaine under the baton of Col François Boulanger.

Calleja, 35, has sung 28 principal roles and performed on most of the world’s leading opera stages, including New York’s Metropolitan Opera, London’s Royal Opera House at Covent Garden and the Vienna State Opera.

An exclusive Decca recording artist since 2003, Calleja has released four solo albums on the label: Tenor Arias (2004), The Golden Voice (2006), The Maltese Tenor (2011), and Be My Love: A Tribute to Mario Lanza (2012). The Maltese Tenor album debuted as the bestselling vocal album on the core classical charts in the UK and Germany.

The orchestra of the Garde Républicaine knows its origins in 1848. It is composed of 120 professional music graduates from National Conservatories of Paris and Lyon. This orchestra is used for state functions.

Mro Boulanger is a distinguished musician, having won five major prizes from the National Music Conservatory of Paris.
