Floriana moved a step closer of securing their Premier League status for another season after brushing past Hamrun Spartans 3-0 this afternoon.
Igor Coronado was again the protagonist for the Greens after hitting a fine-hat-trick to propel his team to the top of the Relegation Pool.
The Brazilian drew first blood two minutes from the break when he did well to reach Carl Tremarco’s cross and head the ball past Hamrun goalkeeper Anthony Curmi.
The Spartans stage a bold fightback in the second half but were denied by a string of fine saves from goalkeeper Tony Warner.
However, it was Floriana who wrapped up the points with two late goals.
In fact in time added on Coronado broke free on the left and sped past Glenn Azzopardi and Bledjon Guga before hitting past Curmi.
The Brazilian had enough time to complete his hat-trick when two minutes into stoppage time he was again put through by Trevor Cilia and he cooly lobbed the ball over Curmi.
Floriana striker Igor Coronado was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
