PN parliamentary group meets, appoints representatives on party's national executive

Video: Mark Zammit Cordina

The Nationalist Party’s parliamentary group met this afternoon and elected the 13 representatives to its national executive.

David Agius was reappointed whip and parliamentary group secretary.

The 13 MPs to represent the group on the executive are: Mr Agius, Frederick Azzopardi, Jason Azzopardi, Claudette Buttigieg, Ryan Callus, Joseph Cassar, Robert Cutajar, Giovanna Debono, Beppe Fenech Adami, Mario Galea, Michael Gonzi, Chris Said and Francis Zammit Dimech.

Questioned after the meeting, Opposition leader Lawrence Gonzi said the meeting did not discuss the electoral result or which districts those who had been elected from two would give up as this was something that would be discussed in a party executive meeting.

Asked whether the group discussed the possibility of commissioning a report on the PN’s electoral defeat, Dr Gonzi said this was idea but it was also a discussion that had to be held at national executive level.

Why should Robert Arrigo form part of this group ? He already forms part of the Franco Debono, JPO, Jesmond Mugliette clique !

The result of the election may be a fiasco but surely the new facelift Malta had undergone under these Ministers is not.

Indeed meeting the village idiot and listening to what he had to say may have helped to loose slightly less spectacularly

Dr. Gonzi can enlighten you just how to run the country. He ably changed the surface of Malta and gave us a new lifestyle which we never dreamed of. Hope that we keep this lifestyle under the present Government.

Carmel Camilleri, nobody is doubting the good Dr. Gonzi did for Malta, and many, including the present PM confirms this.

But like any party in government, there comes a time for complete renewal and find ways and means to communicate better with the people. Not to impose only but to hear. And here the PN, or those pulling all the strings, completely lost touch because of their own agenda.

I did not hear him mention 2008... Dr Gonzi mentioned 1996.

Very well said. PL had already regrouped, reshuffled and cleaned their party. - Those elected were all heavily voted by the people and the people's vote is sovereign. Now its the PN who should follow. Unfortunately in Parliament, we will still be seeing quite a few old PN faces some of whom were culprits of their party's defeat.

Ms Katrina, how many of the PL old Parlament members that get defeat after defeat are in Parlament and Minister now?? Biex tikonguria trid tkun Pur Ms Borg Buhagiar.

And what about the still more ancient LP members of parliament from the 80s and their record responsible for the LP's confinement to the opposition benches for decades?

@Saviour Aquilina. Sewwa qieghed tghid. Biex tikkongurja trid tkun pur. Those old PL parliament members were elected democratically by thousands of voters - that means the electorate are happy and at ease with them in parliament. So what are you trying say?? I still can't see your reasoning

Saviour Aquilina

Mar 15th, 17:45

So the same to PN members was elected by Voters Ms Katrina, but MLP members have a black story behind them. Remember when Perit Vella in the 80s enter at Ghadira with a big boat..!!!! Remember that and Mintoff gave him and John Dalli ( MLP ok ) told to pay Lira 70.00 just like penalty!!!! v Those black days Ms Katrina.

Saviour Aquilina - the corruption which is being uprooted lately does not even start with what you are mentioning. What we experienced during these past years is by far worse than what happened back in the 80s.

Veru li biex TISKONGRA trid tkun pur! Jien dejjem argumentajt li il-PL ilu ghexieren ta snin jippompja gideb u velenu f'kull mezz ta' komunikazzjoni li fl-ahhar il-poplu gie indottrinat. Disgrazzjatament l-injuranza rebhet fuq l-intelligenza.

KATRINA BORG BUHAGIAR

Mar 15th, 19:36

@Saviour Aquilina. I still think that whoever elected the same old PLs did so voluntarily and freely. There were 36,000 voters who did just that. Talking about the 70s - decades ago - and the golden days of Eddie is now history. The labour party moved forward and turned the tide. However, your PN party is stuck, tired, corrupted and divided.

@L.Zammit, meta inti tgħid li il-PL ilu għaxieren ta' snin jippompja il gideb u valenu foq il-mezzi tal-komunikazzjoni biex jindotrina lill-poplu , wrejt li nieqes min sens ta' ġustizzja lejn il-poplu Malti kollu.Jekk kien hawn partit li dejjem ippritka il-firda u qal il-gideb,dan kien il-partit Nazzjonalista.Din il-kampanja wriet dan kollu.
