Ambassador to the EU to be retained
Marlene Bonnici is to be retained by the government as Malta's representative to the EU, the prime minister announced this evening during a visit to Dar Malta in Brussels.
He called for loyalty by the staff "not to me, but to the Government of Malta, which is representing the people of Malta".
He said solutions could be found for those who felt uncomfortable with the new Government but his starting point was that he was ready to work with everyone.
"I trust you," he told employees.

I am to presume that all the permanent sec. etc were chosen by the previous Govt both for their capabilities, but even more for their loyalty .
My question is, If the previous Govt had the right to choose these persons, why is it wrong for the present Govt to chose those who they think can ,apart of their capabilities be those who are even more prepared to implement the new Govt's policies

So we have this as a summary of PL 1st days:
No Malta Taghna Lkoll, no meritocracy, no tista ma taqbilx... Permanent secretaries asked to resign and then BA asked to resign! Complete incompetence and ignorance of the constitution! And... no accountability... who is going to shoulder responsibility for this?
1) No true intention to work together
2) Incompetence and ignorace
3) No accountability

Hats off to Dr. Lawrence Gonzi when he appointed Marlene Bonnice by not looking at her political believes but by looking at her capabilities. Nothing new from Joseph Muscat.

Very good news. I hope for a similar approach to be taken with PPCD - they have done a good job and learnt about about managing EU funding. It would be a real shame to have to start from scratch on this key area.

I'm glad to see some people retain their positions especially when they are being told that they are trusted to continue carrying out a good job.

Jekk jitnehhew nies tajba kemm laburisti u kemm nazzjonalisti jbaghti kullhadd. Ikolli nammetti li hawn hafna ma jaghtux il-gurnata taghhom u jiprofettaw ruhhom bil-partit. Dawn l-istess nies kif tmissilhom xi haga joqomsu mill-ewwel. Ghadu kmieni wisq biex wiehed jiggudika.

Sur Borg, dawn in-nies li semmejt int fl'ahhar huma n-nies li bl-arroganza u s-suppervja li jahsbu li huma l-aqwa u unici kienu l-fattur principali li farrku l-GonziPN. Ehilsu issa malajr mic-Cirku tal-Hazen ghal gid tal-Partit Veru Nazzjonalista u ta' Malta.

This is what Mario de Marco should comment about. Malta's new PM is keeping his word. He is ready to work with every one who wishes to and, naturally, with those who are ready to help in the running of the country with the policies of the government in power. Those who obstruct will, obviously, have to be removed.

Why? As far as I know, Ms Bonnici leans more towards Labour then the PN. Appointed by the PN to a critical role - begs the question of how many jobs were for the blue-eyed boys only.

Does he have a choice?!! Int biss serjeta?? X'fiducja ghandek fil-kappacita tal-Maltin siehbi. Filwaqt li nawgura li l-impjegati kolla ta' Dar Malta gewwa Brussels ghax jidher qedin jaghmlu xoghol tajjeb, ninsab perswaz li ghanna rizorsi umani bizzejjed gewwa dan il-pajjiz zghir u kburi biex ma jkun hemm hadd indispensabli. The usual infantile statements from nationalist apologist, nobody is good enough unless put in place by his party.
Get a life man. Ms Bonnici is retained because she is good at the job and does her work properly, should she deviate for political reasons then she would be a liability for the people.
But I am sure she is sensible enough not to mix her job with her political alliance.

Int bis serjeta jew ? .. m hemmx minn fejn jaghzel kieku kellu jaghzel .. imma la qed taghmel xogholha sew, sewwa ghamel halliha hemm .. quote "he was ready to work with everyone" .. he s keeping his promises

@Marie Therese Debono - "keeping his promises" saying that he will work with everyone???? emmmm, does that apply for those that have been asked to resign like the permanent secretaries and the board of the Broadcasting Authority?
