Frimpong: Ex-England youth international Emmanuel Frimpong has been included in Ghana’s squad for the World Cup qualifier against Sudan on March 24. It is the first call-up for the midfielder, who is on loan at Fulham from Arsenal, after he completed switching his inter-national allegiance from England to Ghana.

Charged: Southampton have been charged with failing to control their players after a penalty decision against them during their 0-0 draw at Norwich. Southampton players mobbed referee Mark Clattenburg when he pointed to the spot in stoppage time on Saturday after deciding Luke Shaw had fouled Grant Holt, who then had his penalty superbly saved by keeper Artur Boruc.

Hungary: Hungary will have to play their 2014 World Cup qualifier at home to Romania without spectators this month after their request to have the sanction provisionally lifted pending an appeal was rejected by sport’s highest tribunal. Hungary were ordered to play the match on March 22 behind closed doors after fans chanted anti-Se-mitic slogans and displayed offensive symbols during a friendly at home to Israel in August. The Court of Arbitration for Sport said it would consider Hungary’s appeal but the ban would remain in place.

Allen: Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has been included in Chris Coleman’s Wales squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Croatia. The former Swansea man is struggling with a shoulder injury which will require surgery. Liverpool will have the final word on when the 22-year-old goes under the knife.

Xavi: Barca playmaker Xavi will miss the La Liga leaders’ game at home to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday after aggravating a hamstring problem in Tuesday’s Champions League victory against Milan. “The player felt some discomfort in his hamstring and tests confirmed muscle fatigue which will keep him out of the league game at the Nou Camp,” Barca said.

FA Cup, QF replay: Blackburn Rovers vs Millwall 0-1.
