Brian Robertson, chief executive officer of HSBC Bank plc, a group managing director of HSBC Holdings plc and a member of the group management board, has been appointed to the board of directors of HSBC Bank Malta plc as an executive director, subject to regulatory approval.

As CEO of HSBC Bank plc, Mr Robertson is responsible for all the group’s operations in the UK and continental Europe. Mr Robertson is also chairman of HSBC Life (UK) Ltd and a director of HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd.

Mr Robertson has been with the HSBC Group for 38 years and has extensive international experience, having worked in the Middle East, Hong Kong, the US, the UK and Canada.

He succeeds Peter William Boyles on the HSBC Malta board. Mr Boyles stepped down from his position as executive director of HSBC Malta following his recent appointment as chief executive officer of HSBC Group Global Private Banking.
