The AFM have suspended the search for a missing diver at Dwejra Gozo, due to deteriorating weather conditions in the area.

The AFM Rescue Coordination Centre has been coordinating the search since being alerted about the case on Sunday at 12.45 p.m. by the Victoria Police Station.

It is understood that the missing person, Emanuel Sammut, 43 of Birkirkara, went diving on Friday. His absence was not immediately noticed because he lived alone. His car was found in Dwejra with some decaying fish inside.

The AFM said its primary focus is on underwater searches. AFM divers have been  joined by divers from the Civil Protection Department and the volunteer Emergency Response and Rescue Corps. A total of 11 dives were performed. However, despite all efforts, searches have not yielded positive results.
