Joseph Muscat yesterday reiterated his appeal for disgruntled voters to pick up their vote and deliver a message of change by voting for the Labour Party in Saturday’s general election.

Dr Muscat was addressing a Broadcasting Authority press conference and repeated an appeal he made in the morning during a television programme on One TV.

Shifting to energy, Dr Muscat hit out at the Government’s campaign on the gas proposal, saying this was not the way to go before proceeding to highlight two negative aspects of the Nationalist Party’s proposed dependence on a gas pipeline and interconnector cable to Sicily.

“If I wanted to be negative I would have harped on the fact that Italian energy company Eni has shut down the gas pipeline from Libya to Sicily because of security concerns,” he said.

He also asked what would happen if the cable to Sicily was damaged by a vessel and Malta depended on this for its electricity supply.

Dr Muscat skirted a question when asked by a Net TV reporter about Labour candidate Jason Micallef’s change of heart to contest the gene-ral election.

He pointed out that at the same time Mr Micallef had withdrawn his candidature in January 2012, PN deputy leader Simon Busuttil was saying he would not be an election candidate.

“The context has changed,” Dr Muscat said.
