This week, while in England, I received a call from Air Malta concerning my impending return flight back home.

“Flight overbooked,” I imagined. Or worse, “Flight cancelled...”

But that was not the case at all. Actually, owing to some computer glitch or, maybe, my own human error while booking this flight online last September, I had inadvertantly booked not one but three separate tickets on the same flight, adding up to nearly €600!

The kind lady calling me wished to point out the error and refund the full amount for two of the tickets.

How very pleasant, in this age of gross commercialism and money-grabbing, to be the recipient of such God-blessed generosity. As I had purchased nine tickets with the airline at about the same time, I’d missed the error showing up on my bank statement.

I can think of other airlines – Ryanair in particular – that would have readily pocketed my overpayment with not a second thought.

Well done Air Malta – and thank you for your honesty.
