Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi paid a visit to the Institute of Tourism Studies this morning where he was greeted with applause.
After touring the kitchens and classrooms, Dr Gonzi spoke about the importance of tourism and the fact that a new campus for ITS was being planned in Pembroke, pending permits from the planning authority.
Dr Gonzi said he was pleased to know that students attending the institute were proud of their career path because hospitality was a value that was part of Malta's DNA.
He said the Government would continue to invest in the tourism industry including with a portion of the €1.12 billion funds negotiated in the EU budget.
Education Minister Dolores Cristina accompanied the Prime Minister.
