Supermarket chain Scott's will be investing €12 million this year in a new establishment in Mosta and a new warehousing centre.

During a visit to the Zabbar Scott's centre by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Mario Said - chairman of the group - said that his chain is expanding at a rapid pace and the new investment will serve to continue to grow.

He said that the new investment will also result in 50 new jobs to raise the total number of employees with the group to 350.

Dr Gonzi said that the investment announced by Mr Said shows that the country was  moving in the right direction with businessmen having confidence in the island's growing economy.
