Four men have been remanded in custody after coming to blows in Cospicua yesterday afternoon.

Father of 11, Emanuel Azzopardi, 40, and his 37-year-old brother Michael, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring, Jeanfred Vella, 28 and assaulting his 52-year-old father Edwin.

Mr Vella and his son pleaded not guilty to similar charges that included relapsing and seriously injuring Emanuel Azzopardi.

The fight happened in St Michael’s Street.

The older of the Azzopardi brothers appeared in court with a badly injured left eye and a slash wound across his forehead which required sutures while the other accused appeared to have not suffered any other injuries.

Both men said that they were former dockyard workers and unemployed.

Police Inspector Robert Said Sarreo said that the fight was a “frightening scene.

The officer said he was objecting to bail being granted because the fear of the fight reigniting was very real.
