Michaela Smith, chief executive, CPTM Ltd writes:

We express our deepest condolences to the Maltese people, Government, family and friends, on the passing of our leading Founder Member and Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management (CPTM) director Noel Zarb-Adami.

Prof. Zarb-Adami has been involved with the evolution, transformation and vision of the Smart Partnership Movement and CPTM since 1988. Indeed, alongside a core group, he was part and parcel of the ‘spiral’ from the beginning.

He was the archetypal Smart Partner, first class scientist, businessman, civil servant, director, dialoguer and moderator, but above all, smartest provocateur. He would never accept advocacy only, but he ongoingly promoted and led enquiry.

He was also a first class friend, father and husband and my sounding board on anything I would dare think of in terms of dreaming together for CPTM and Smart Partnership in each country.

Prof. Zarb Adami did a lot for Malta and for small islands in Europe and the Commonwealth. He was a ‘freedom fighter’ against inequity – intellectual and otherwise and a great supporter of Smart 29ers, who will continue to keep the beacon alight. Prof. Zarb Adami will be remembered in the Commonwealth and beyond.
