Iditarod begins in Alaska
The world's most famous sled-dog race is underway in Alaska as 66 mushers and their teams kicked off the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race.
Most of the dogs are mixed breed huskies and wear booties to protect their feet from the ice and snow covered terrain.
Participants come from all over the world. There's even one musher from Jamaica.
Last year's winner completed the 1,000 mile race in under nine days.
The winning purse for the competition is $600,000.
