Do not put the results the country is achieving at risk, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this morning when speaking during a political activity in Senglea.

“We have to address those at home who are still thinking about whether and how to vote,” he said adding that there were still many thousands of voters, including first timers, who were still undecided.

First time voters should remember that a Prime Minister’s responsibility after the March 9 election would be massive. “Let’s do our best to overcome the dangers around us…

“Think it over. This is no party. It affects your future. If the choice is bad, it will be very bad…”

Dr Gonzi referred to Dr Muscat’s past references that Malta should follow the Cyprus model and said that Cyprus was in trouble because it did not have the courage to take the decisions that were necessary for the country reform.

“Weigh everything but make the best choice and make sure you do not risk all that you are working for,” he advised.

His message to undecided voters who were not first timers was to remember waking up to a Labour government in 1996.

That government had managed to destroy the country in just 22 months. It had introduced CET and unemployment had reached the highest rates ever, he said.

The same people who were in the Labour government then, formed the Labour Party now.

“We are obtaining good results. Do not risk. Only the Nationalist Party can offer a guarantee for the future,” he said.

His closing message was to his followers.

“You have another five days of work to spread the message before we vote on March 9 and then celebrate on March 10.”
