Can Mater Dei Hospital cope with demand?

Everyone is arguing about the never-ending waiting lists at the hospital. But when I used it myself, I did not have any problem – the staff was helpful and we did not take too long. However, with other members of my family, certain things took long, so I would say it all depends on the department being used. Can Mater Dei still be called state-of-the-art?
It is in a very good state. My family has never had any problems with it; the staff was helpful and the service was quick. It is very efficient. Shelley Spiteri
Aesthetically, Mater Dei is much better looking than St Luke’s Hospital. I think it helps a little bit when a patient goes there and does not feel like the place is neglected.
On the other hand, aesthetics is not the only thing. Despite Malta being small, we do need another hospital. Cherise Attard

What should become of St Luke’s Hospital?
There are different ways that St Luke’s can be used. For example, there are a lot of people who need social care, such as victims of domestic violence who need temporary accomodation. So I think it would be a good idea to use St Luke’s to provide housing to victims of various social issues. Shelley Spiteri
St Luke’s would make an excellent secondary hospital or a home for the elderly. Cherise Attard
There is a lot that can be done with St Luke’s. Perhaps it could be used as another old people’s home or a specialised institution. Alvin Hili
