The Malta Handball Association (MHA) has distributed handball equipment, donated by the International Handball Federation (IHF), to all local clubs.

The assistance, known as the IHF Development Aid, is intended to help developing handball nations by providing support material to local clubs.

This year, new handballs have been given to clubs to help them reduce costs of buying extra handball material as well as for them to train with top-quality balls.

“It is always important for local sports to benefit from such grants, especially from an international point of view,” MHA president Louis Borg said in a statement.

“We are trying to increase the level of handball in Malta and this kind of assistance will surely prove valuable to all clubs.”

Meanwhile, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee has announced the 25 core sports for the 2020 Olympic Games, to be proposed to the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires (September 7 to 10).

As for all Olympic Games since 1972, handball is part of the Olympic programme.
