The Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday handed a one-match ban to eight Premier League players following last weekend’s games.

Birkirkara will take on title rivals Hibernians on Saturday without Nigerian forward Shodiya Shola Haruna who was sanctioned following his dismissal in his team’s 1-0 defeat to Sliema on Sunday.

Brazilian playmaker Andrezinho’s red card in Tarxien’s 3-0 defeat to derby rivals Hibs has ruled him out of Sunday’s match aganst Mosta.

Ħamrun Spartans will be without captain Roderick Fenech for their delicate Relegation Pool clash with Rabat Ajax tomorrow at the Tedesco Stadium.

Fenech was suspended after seeing red in his team’s 3-1 defeat to Balzan on Sunday.

Bottom side Melita will be without first-team players Andrew Caruana Scicluna and Matthew Borg for tomorrow’s match against Qormi after both were given a one-match ban for four yellow cards.

For their part, Qormi will be missing Jonathan Bondin who was sent off in his team’s 2-1 defeat to Rabat.

Also suspended for four yellow cards were Owen Bugeja (Floriana) and Ivan Woods (Sliema Wanderers).

Woods and Bugeja will sit out their teams’ fixtures against Valletta and Balzan respectively.
