Judge says impeachment motion is 'politically motivated'
Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco yesterday described an impeachment motion against him as “politically motivated” because of his political beliefs.
He was testifying in a constitutional case in which he is demanding that two members of the Commission for the Administration of Justice abstain from hearing the impeachment case. They are retired judge Victor Caruana Colombo, and the president of the Chamber of Advocates, Reuben Balzan.
He protested that Dr Balzan was a partner in a law firm with minister Francis Zammit Dimech and also appeared in photos during the election of Simon Busuttil as the PN’s deputy leader.
Judge Caruana Colombo as a member of the same Commission, had taken part in a decision to publicly censure him for having stayed on as president of the Malta Olympic Committee (MOC).

Dear Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco,Irrespective of your past or present political followings, the questions are these; Why have you found yourself here in the first place? As a Hon member of the Justice system ,are you not supposed to be a leader in these areas and be out there to set exemplary standards in the eyes of all the Maltese people?
You said no suit can be laid against the U K journalists

Those believing that under Joseph PL our institutions will be all transparent and clean are in for a surprise, Joseph PL more of the same with the added risk of failed experiments.

Hi A. Vella,
Maybe what you opined of the PL would have some weight if you contrasted it with the incumbent PN
But you chose not!
Failed experiments only if one try out a new series and it backfires rather than opt for the status quo which we are witnessing crumbling under the dirty oil scandal!
The least one can expect is Joseph and the PL delivering on the 25% energy tariff saving per household
Mr Andrew Camilleri

Vella, where is the transparency and cleanliness under GonziPN? They are non-existent and so Jm could not do any worse.

You are talking about politicians. I don't think any of them has a clue of the real meaning of Transparency, because if they knew they would not be politicians in the first place.

This is the type of democracy we have in Malta?
If you are PN you can do whatever you want, if you have labour sympathies than you are put under a spot light, criticised or dumped.
Even a judge, one of the highest position in Malta, has experienced this.
No wonder that meritocracy and accountability is given less importance by this government because the priority is to agree with Gonzi.

It is a pity that even the courts have now entered the political fray

And its all Gonzi's fault who was intent of making a charade of impeaching this judge.

Attn Francis Saliba MD?
Well if it was Joe Debono and Mintoff practiced what you term an obscenity many an episode similar to JDG and practiced by Gonzi took place under the PN colourful governance!
I relegate all to the history books and still remain focused on the 9/3/2013 exiingt of the current obscene PN incumbency-Joe Micallef

Francis Saliba: The "obscenity" you mention had been practised by successive PN governments since 1987.
I happen to be one of those who suffered from those obscenities , purely because of my political affilitaion !

Feb 26th, 14:33
Eddy, I too suffered the PN 'treatment' after 1987. At that time I had no political affiliation. My only 'crime' was that I delivered well in my job prior to 1987. The PN could not accept the concept that one can be professional and apolitical in the performance of his duties. They never took up my challenge to indicate any discrimination, corruption or not acting in the best interests of Malta.

Wally: A relative of mine - a nationalist - had been a top official of the Telephone Department. But because he was proud of his job and did it well despite having a Labour government, they made enormous pressure on him to put spokes in the wheel ! He told me he was very worried. HE DIED IN HIS BED AGED 50 YEARS IN 1985 ! i'M SURE THOSE WHO WORKED WITH HIM REMEMBER WHO I'M REFERRING TO !

Yes but unfortunatelt his political beliefs are know and Gonzi is making use of them to (he thinks) gain votes. Gonzi is so desperate he will even stoop to playing around with attacking the judiciary. Shame on Gonzi!

I now understand why Joseph Muscat stayed on the fence regarding this matter... he did the same with the Toni Abela 'mistake' (and his own for that matter). Joseph enjoys protect those who have a Malta Labour Party inclinations. No wonder, when Mintoff was in government, he stated "First we give to the Labourites, then we give to more Labourites and if there is anything left we will do the same"

I will be more than pleased you substantiate your claim by providing the script or recording of the Mintoff statement!
Have you ever heard the phrase 'Blue eyed boys'?
Joseph stands for change in the sense expressed during this electorate campaignand I am looking forward to give this new PL policy a chance come 9/3/13
