Joseph Calleja will sing for two presidents this evening under the baton of Three Tenors conductor Zubin Mehta at a special concert to mark the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s birth.
Italian President Giorgio Napolitano will be the guest of honour at the Bavarian State Opera House, alongside German President Joachim Gauck.
After this performance Calleja, who was recently forced to pull out of a debut performance at the La Scala opera house in Milan due to unforeseen circumstances, will head for Chicago for six performances of La Bohéme before he returns to Europe to continue his packed schedule in April.
