Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this evening in Birzebbuga that the difference between PN and the PL was that while the former made sure that the gas bottling plant in Qajjenza was closed and moved away from the populated areas, the PL wanted to build two huge gas tanks close to the locality alongside a new power station.

He said that the residents of Birzebbugia and all the people of the fifth district should show through their vote that they did not want this danger on their door step.

JOB CREATION

Addressing himself to young voters and those voting for the first time, Dr Gonzi said the PN was the only party which had a focus on job-creation and it was the party which took Malta into the EU, broadening their career horizons.

With labour there was no guarantee that the economy would continue to grow. Labour was a risk not worth taking particularly by the young who wanted to start working after they finished their studies.

The PN had transformed the Maltese economy and closed down all those operations which were driven by subsidies.

Labour could not understand the government's economic policies, the PL criticised everything without coming out with any solution.

The PN was promising to create 25,000 new jobs and had showed how it would do it, making the best use of the €1.128 billion allocated to Malta by the EU, Dr Gonzi said.
