The head of the Security Service, Godfrey Scicluna, has suspended himself after a pedestrian initiated legal proceedings against him in the wake of a traffic accident.
The Department of Information said last night he had taken the step pending procedures linked to allegations of involvement in an “involuntary” accident two weeks ago.
Mr Scicluna is facing charges of causing involuntary bodily harm after reversing his vehicle onto a pedestrian, according to sources.
The Security Services is Malta’s intelligence agency involved in tackling organised crime and terrorism. In recent years it was behind the evidence brought against judges involved in corruption.
