The historical 1989 Malta Summit between Presidents George Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev, which spelled the end of the Cold War, required the efficient transportation of the CBS News crew equipment from the US.

The group has been able to grasp the opportunities which have come its way

The high-security carriage of the Malta’s first euro coins and notes to the island in 2007, the transportation of priceless classic racing cars, the precise shifting of major local factories such as Trelleborg and Methode, the delicate transportation of works of art and of a newly-acquired Jacques Braux 1998 harpsichord purchased from Paris by the Manoel Theatre – all these milestones were entrusted to the Express Group.

Express Group, with its business units Express Trailers, Emanuel Vella and Sons, Eyre Cargo and Express Freights, has quite painstakingly earned a reputation in the local business community as the specialised transporters and logistics operators of choice.

“In reality, every job has to be handled with the utmost care and attention,” Express Group general manager Johann Vella explains.

“That is the treatment all clients would expect for their goods, no matter what the goods are. Over the years, Express Group has built a solid reputation in transport and logistics. Gradual specialisation has led the company to invest in the right infranstructure and equipment.”

The group is now in a position to handle any type of cargo – from cars to foodstuffs, from heavy machinery and furniture to delicate pharmaceuticals – thanks to temperature-controlled trailers.

It also offers a moving service and has helped major companies and organisations relocate to new premises. A recent project involved assisting a diplomatic mission move to its new embassy.

“We are proud of what we have achieved and the status we enjoy today as one of the most trusted transport and logistics company in Malta is proven by our very positive track record and the reliability we can offer,” Mr Vella adds. “We have been able to grasp the opportunities which have come our way and we have leveraged them to our benefit. They have broadened our experience and knowledge.”

Besides specialised jobs, such as the occasional transportation of important historical artifacts or priceless classic race cars for locally organised events, Express Group has also established a close working relationship with several local artists and has helped them transport their work safely from their studio to the venue of their exhibitions overseas.

Express Group operates a fleet of temperature-controlled trailers across a network that spans all Europe, guaranteeing clients a truly professional approach to storage and final delivery to and from any point on the continent in a reliable and safe environment.

This is also possible through a strategic partnership the company enjoys with DHL Coldchain. All temperature-equipped trailers are totally controlled in Malta by Express Group’s operational staff through a dedicated fleet tracking management system which includes a live temperature-reading facility available to the client while the cargo is in transit.
