Ta l-ajkla attracts thousands again
Thousands turned up in Vittoriosa this afternoon for the second mass meeting by independent election candidate Nazzareno Bonnici ta' l-ajkla.
Members of the crowd, in a jovial mood, carried Maltese, EU and rainbow flags. Some turned up carrying the Roman Eagle normally seen in Good Friday processions. However the letters SPQR were replaced by 'Zaren'. Others waved yellow and white balloons.
Some people had eagles painted on their faces, and one man turned up complete with a set of wings.

Alot of people here are depoloring those who showed up to this event as solely intent on making fun of the speaker and having a laugh at his expense.
I'm thinking the joke will be on the commenters if enough of the event participants go on to actually vote for him...

Ma ninsewx li darba kien hemm zmien fejn kelliem (suppost politikant) hareg jitkellem f'meeting xorban fejn qal li ir-rebha kienet taghhom u rnexxielu jikkonvinci nofs Malta.Kienu buzulotti u hmerijiet f'laqwa taghhom.
Lil Mr bonnici jien ma nafux pero insellimlu minn hawn talli kien kapaci jaghqqad u jferrah aktar minn dawk li kienu xorbani...........

All those who think that 'tal-ajkla' is funny just confirm how CRUEL and INSENSITIVE local politics is. And I'm not talking about candidates, so-called leaders, and campaigners. I'm talking about the voters. Perhaps about YOU as well. Being amused with ridiculing half-wits, and encouraging them to be publicly mocked, is SHAMEFUL, MEAN and IMMORAL. This is local politics at its best. A disgrace!

WEll, Mark, we do live in a democracy don't we. Who are you to judge............I think the beauty of democracyis that every 5 years, it is our turn to make our politicians squirm a little bit. Real issues that maltese and gozitans want discussed such as illegal migration, high gasoline and electricty prices are not not being discussed. No wonder, we want satire in our daily lives.

So, according to you, calling a man a half-wit (as you have done) is not shameful, mean or immoral. Come off it.

All this sarcasm and fooling around.
If, according to AD, two thousand disgruntled voters (a mix from both the PL and the PN sides) happen to want to take the Mickey out of this election result and vote for Zaren, we could have a very colourful not-so- valid Onorevoli in Piano's fiasco of a parliament.
These mishaps did happen in other bigger countries and even in our own Local Councils.

this is a clear indication that people are fed up. Oil scandal is in the hands of the police & persons involved are being arraigned, we don't need to hear more from policitians on the case. please discuss proposals. PN definitely stands to gain from discussing proposals- more investment in jobs, education, infrasutructure & tourism using eu funds & pl sounds very amateurish discussing these issues

Li tmur en masse biex tissapportja l-partit tieghek hi haga tajba, imma li tmur biex tirredicola persuna li ovjament ghanda bzon l-ghajnuna hija tragedja. Anqas ma qbilt mal partecipazzjoni ta Kevin Drake fuq One TV,persuni bi bzonnijiet speccjali irridu niproteguhom mhux nuzawhom bhala strument ta propaganda.

This man is serving the nation as the much needed historical "fool". Throughout history, rulers used to take jesters/fools seriously and were held with much respect. They served not simply to amuse but to criticise their master or mistress and their guests.

God bless the Maltese - they make light of a very negative and decidedly overlong political campaign.
The PM should have put the interests of the country first and ensured there would be a much shorter campaign as business is down as a result of the political goings on.
But Gonzi, true to form, put political interests before the needs of the country.

Alternativa demokratika has been struggling to get a seat in parliament for many years and both parties have borrowed many of there policies .Now Zaren manages to bring thousands to his meetings , what does this say about our culture ,this man is a joke and although it remains to be seen how many votes he manages to get its very worrying indeed .

A crowd is a crowd is a crowd with no brains... without looking at the speaker or what the message is... the crowd cheers :)
This is sheer genius for those who wish to consider our political parties' message.... what they say doesn't matter to the crowd... we are satisfied with empty promises before every election and we cheer!

I do not see much difference from these meetings and the ones made by the major parties.
There are plenty of people who went out for an outing. The major parties organise pre meeting party and an other one at the end. Many people go to the meetings to meet their friends and to party not to listen to what their leaders are saying.
