Enemalta’s fuel procurement committee has cancelled recent fuel tenders and temporarily excluded oil giants Trafigura and Total from bidding in view of their alleged involvement in the oil procurement scandal.

The committee even cancelled the latest tender process which had already received offers, as a precaution pending investigations.

The development follows revelations in The Times on Tuesday that top executives from Total had told their then Maltese agents in 2011 that they were not interested in doing business with them unless they had on their team George Farrugia, the rogue oil trader who has been given a presidential pardon to tell all on the case.
