Leah Xuereb, the four-year-old cancer fighter who underwent lifesaving treatment last year, has had to return to hospital in Malta but is recovering and looking “fantastic”, according to her parents.

The little girl “filled the house again” when she returned from overseas treatment in December. But the family were informed on New Year's Eve that cancer traces had again been detected. She is now undergoing chemotherapy.

“We were warned this could happen...but when the cancer trace marks rose, we were devastated,” her mother Zhana said. 

Leah's father Jonathan commended the aftercare in Malta. He said treatment was less aggressive than before the operation, and the cancer traces are diminishing.

“You have to be strong, taking it day by day, and she is doing well now. She looks healthy and cheerful," Zhana said.
