Prime minister Lawrence Gonzi said this morning that while he had done everything in his power to make sure that corruption and wrongdoing were uncovered, Labour leader Joseph Muscat has done all he could to hide a serious 'drug case' he was informed about.
Reacting to the news that two more people are expected to be arraigned in court today over the oil commissions scandal, Dr Gonzi said that this case showed the clear distinction between the PN and the PL.
"As soon as we got to know with the alleged abuse, we used all the tools available at law, including a presidential pardon, to make sure that the whole truth is revealed, independently of who might be involved. We didn't look at faces but decided to do what is right." Dr Gonzi said.
"Now you can compare that with how labour acted (about the cases in its clubs)" he told journalists.
"Dr Muscat was informed about a serious drug case at one of his clubs and instead of reporting it to the authorities for investigation he tried to do a cover-up," he said.
Dr Gonzi said that Dr Muscat was also standing by his deputy Toni Abela despite his failure to report a crime. "New labour is just a wrapper, this incident clearly exposes their real face," Dr Gonzi said.
