Ford’s latest Fiesta was introduced to the local market at Gasan Zammit’s Mrieħel showroom on Friday. It is the first car from the extensive Gasan Zammit portfolio to be launched since the merger between the two companies last November.

First launched in 1976, the Fiesta has frequently been voted the most popular car in the UK. Last year, automotive data intelligence provider Jato Dynamics named it Europe’s top-selling small car of 2012, and the second most popular car overall, with one purchased every two minutes on average.

With more than 15 million sold last year and the first new models rolling off the production line at Ford’s Cologne factory just before Christmas, this Fiesta is set to follow in the successful wheels of its predecessors. While protecting a 35-year legacy, it also introduces a host of new technologies to its class – previously unexplored territory for the company. Among these features are the push-button start, a six-speed Power Shift automatic transmission, and heated and leather-trimmed seats.

Sales manager Neil Falzon said the Fiesta continues to deliver class-leading fuel economy, distinctive design and strong driving dynamics, and a host of comfort and convenience features not commonly associated with this class. ‘Frozen White’ has proved the most popular paint colour among Fiesta customers all across Europe.

Gasan Zammit Motors chief executive Stefan Deguara said it was an exciting time for the new merger which had many plans.

“In light of this merger, we offer a more exciting and frequent line-up of new models every year. This year alone promises to be extremely busy for Gasan Zammit with new models being launched across most car segments and budgets.”

Gasan Zammit Motors Limited operates from the Gasan Centre in Mrieħel which houses all the automotive and marine brands – an authentic and effective single source, offering customers the largest choice of brands and models in all segments under one roof.
