A man from Naxxar was this morning granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €1,000 after he pleaded not guilty to assaulting a local warden.

Jean Pierre Schembri, 35, pleading not guilty to assaulting, attacking, threatening and resisting the orders of Roderick Pace in Vjal Labour Naxxar yesterday, at around midday.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud said that the accused turned up at the police station and said that he had had an argument  with a warden over a ticket.

Shortly after, the warden also turned up and police began investigating.
