A woman has been awarded nearly €18,000 in damages for injuries she suffered when a car rammed into hers on coming out of a side street in 2007.

Emmeline Cini, who was 27 at the time, was driving along Għajn Dwieli Road, Paola when the other driver, Antoine Cachia, failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into her, she told the court.

She suffered a flexion and extension injury to her neck and the court-appointed medical experts estimated that she suffered a four per cent permanent disability as a result of the accident.

Mr Cachia and his insurance company admitted liability.

Taking into account her salary as a croupier at the time, Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco awarded her damages of €17,948.84.
