People should vote during the March 9 local council elections to ensure they elect representatives who work for the benefit of their locality and country, according to Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

“The local council elections are like Cinderella – they are being overshadowed by the general election but we must give them the importance due to them,” he said as he encouraged people to vote.

Dr Gonzi was speaking during the inauguration of the newly paved area in front of St Mary Church in Birkirkara. He said the works carried out there were testimony of how EU funds could be invested for the benefit of various localities.
