Franco Debono of Ta’ Lajku Confectionery cuts a portion out of a 400-kilo prinjolata (Carnival sweet) in Xagħra during a Carnival activity, which also featured the traditional kumittiva dance. The five-and-a-half-foot-high traditional cake contained 250 kilos of biscuits, 800 kilos of cherries and candied fruit, 800 kilos of icing sugar and 35 litres of egg whites. The sweet, given free to spectators, was baked by Mr Debono, helped by members of the kumittiva.
