Malta has placed 80th in the alpine skiing world championships in Schladming, Austria today.

The country, which took part in the winter sports championships for the first time, was represented by Elise Pellegrin, a Maltese national who lives in France.

The gold medal was won by Tessa Worley of France. Slovenian Tina Maze was second and Austrian Anna Fenninger was third.
