Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Michael Briguglio has lambasted the roadworks being carried out on The Strand, Sliema, and expressed concern that seawater flooding was not being addressed.
Dr Briguglio, who is also a Sliema local councillor, said it was worrying Transport Malta had admitted the Ferries works were not attempting to solve the problem.
The regulator said this would be dealt with in the scheduled underground car park project, which, Dr Briguglio insisted, was not an adequate answer.
“The rushed works being carried out by Transport Malta at Sliema Ferries are causing a nightmare to pedestrians. Crossing the road is very dangerous, signs are lacking, trees have been removed and there are no signs of bicycle lanes,” he said.
Sliema deserved holistic planning, something which, apparently, neither the planning authority nor Transport Malta was “capable of doing”, he complained.
