The PN remains the safest choice for the electorate as it provides the best programme and the best opportunities for the country’s future, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told supporters in Mosta today.

Acknowledging that the PN was “not a perfect” party and that it made various mistakes during the past legislature, he said that compared to Labour, the PN still provided the best offer.

“Labour is just an experiment promising everything to everyone. It might have changed its wrapping but is still old labour of the past.”

“With us you know where you stand. You know that with us the country continues to move forward despite the economic turmoil. With the PN everyone knows that the country is in safe hands,” Dr Gonzi said.

Referring to the recent episode involving Labour’s Deputy Leader Toni Abela, the Prime Minister said that this reminding the people how the police force used to be under Labour. He said that from the opposition the Labour party was  already showing that it wanted to control the police and divide officers into Labourites and Nationalists.

Comparing the Mosta Rotunda with the size of the gas tanks that the PL is proposing to build in Delimara, Dr Gonzi said that while the PN was proposing to continue to invest heavily in education, health and job creation, Labour wanted to waste €600 million in a new power station which Malta does not need.

On corruption, Dr Gonzi said that the PN had always shown that it fought corruption in a serious way.

“We always call in the police immediately. Joseph Muscat just pays lip service and defends his deputy leader when he does something wrong,” he said.
