A drug addict was this morning placed on probation for three years after he admitted to stealing the car belonging to his flat mate - twice, about two weeks ago.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona told the accused, Jesmond Cassar, 38, of Luqa, that he would need a whole afternoon to read out his criminal record.

In response to the magistrate’s demand that he should get clean, the accused said he would definitely be undergoing a rehabilitation programme.
