Motorists urged to avoid Kappara junction
File picture.
Motorists have been urged by the police to avoid Kappara roundabout because of infrastructural works.
Enemalta said last week that the works are aimed at strengthening the distribution network for the interconnector with Sicily. It had said at the time that the junction would not be closed.
However motorists yesterday said they were diverted away from the roundabout.

From Msida JL area to Skate Park.....it took me 45 mins... I was not allowed to turn at SP roundabout but diverted to mid-way onto first roundabout on B'Kara Bypass and turn back! There was no huge traffic on the way to Valletta, so I wonder why that part of the roundabout was closed!

I think it is time to have Traffic News updates via RDS. Nowadays all new cars have an RDS stereo installed. Whenever there is a traffic update, the car radio stops the music being played and the driver listens to the traffic update. I believe only one station in Malta transmits in RDS format but only for adverts. Malta Communications Authority does not seem to have any legislation on RDS.

Who's clever planning had the Sliema roundabout and M'rabat street closed at the same time.. getting to St Julian's became a 1 hour nightmare in evening rush hour. Not a brain cell between them all!!

It was the worst to date but spare a thought for the great effort made by the traffic police led by Supt.Bayliss and a police inspector who worked under extreme pressure to get things back to `normal` in yesterday`s rush hour! They really must have sweated it out..as they so often do to make our life on the road a bit more comfortable! Well done and God help you in your work.

Maltese Road Traffic Updates is a very useful link which can help all drivers . There are just under 15,000 members, so constant updates are coming from practically all over the island. Have a look and join and you will bless the moment you did so.

Can Ttransport Malta find a solution how to divert the traffic to avoid this traffic jam.
Imagine when heavy rain starts, it will double the traffic jam and increase traffic problems. Please do something about it to avoid these jams.

This can only be done if works are not being undertaken in alternative routes too, as was the case yesterday. Oh holy planning!

Don't forget the fresh pot holes that have appeared in most roads after the rains, the old ones we can avoid but the new ones are surprises.

Correct me if I am wrong but weren't their roadworks a few months back in the same area. Why wasn't the job done at the time? Isn't this lack of planning from Enemalta? Re the traffic jam not one policeman was seen directing traffic it was everyone for himself. I got caught twice in the jams spend two hours in traffic.

This would require "koordinazzjoni" - something which seems difficult to put into practice.

@ Aaron Cassar
wasn't being facetious with my previous comment- if something drastic isn't done soon Malta is going to come to a grinding halt.
