A 32-year-old unemployed man from Mgarr  this morning pleaded not guilty to stealing ‘priceless’ gold from an elderly couple.

Josef Buttigieg had previously been jailed for three months for failing to pay maintenance.

Inspector Carlos Cordina said the accused was caught through fingerprints. The gold was deemed to be priceless because it was very old.

At one point during today’s hearing the defence and prosecution approached the Bench to discuss the case with Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona.

The case continues.
