I do not think that the pics shown , ridicule in anyway, His Holiness Pope Benedict.
They make a most welcome change from the public bickering of the political parties that is continually hogging the limelight and if anything , are good humoured political satire aimed at others.

Well, Franco did get 100 in Religion in Form 2; according to his results.
With those marks, he could have the credentials for a Pope!

I find such 'jokes' which may attempt to ridicule the Pope are in bad taste and should not be taken lightly. Let alone being promoted on national papers. I think such 'jokes' should be ignored as they tend to damage and offend public belief.

I don't know if you noticed but even though they're, as you yourself put it, in bad taste, you still read the article and browsed through them...
If you're offended don't read!
LOL!

I find that they ridicule the others and not the Pope.

I beg to differ. The jokes absolutely do not ridicule the Pope or offend Catholicism. The memes ridicule public figures who may replace the Pope. What's wrong with promoting them on national newspapers? Had "The Times" blog disregarded them, its readers would have missed a glorious opportunity to have a good laugh at the expense of these renowned figures.
Grow up Mr Gatt! We need a nice break.

@Louis Gatt:
"The Public" do not have a belief.
The same as the Government should not be allowed to tell you what religion you should to follow.
Your beliefs and your Religion are your own private issues and have nothing to do with the rest of the country.
And if the editor of a national newspaper wishes to print humour, then so be it. It made many more chuckle than frown, I would guess.

I have great respect for the Pope and especially his office but please do lighten up. I'm sure if the Pope himself had to see these joke he'll just seen them as harmless digs .. if anything aimed not at him but at others. Do grow up!
