A blocked traffic junction, the weather and a carnival float combined to make driving a misery for drivers this evening.

Long traffic jams characterised the area around the Regional Road for most of the day because of Enemalta works at the Kappara Junction - with cars diverted over a wide area and drivers delayed by up to an hour late in the morning.

Heavy rainfall complicated matters in the afternoon, and the problems extended to south-bound traffic on December 13 Road in the evening when a large number of cars and buses were stuck behind a huge float moving at a snail's pace escorted by policemen.

At one time the float hit a pedestrian bridge, scattering colourful parts onto the road. The bridge did not appear to be damaged.
